Josh, winner of round 1 and 2, is the current leader in the SKT championship. But you will not see him this coming weekend at Bira defending his position in round 3.
His father, buddy, pal, mate Richard passed away last Sunday in Australia and words cannot describe the sadness we all feel.
Richard's approach to karting was the same as the one he applied to life in general. If it does not bring a smile on your face don't do it. And all smiles he was, making an impact even on people he only met once. Now we will have to do without his smile and we know it will not be easy.
Our love and thoughts go to Richard's wife Kathy, his daughter Georgia and to dear Josh.
We have prepared some pictures of Richard so that you can keep a memory of a beloved friend.
Richard (also known as Cleggy), Josh, Vassili, Pasin, Hugues, Jonathan, Francois, Khan but also Michel, Eric, Anthony and Alejandro, we all met only a little more than four years ago at the RCA indoor karting stadium in Bangkok and were soon caught in the first edition of the 24 hour endurance race organised at Bira in 2006. Cleggy, Francois, Anthony and Alejandro were teammates in the FT8 team. Hugues, Jonathan, Michel and Eric were teammates in the Eurasia team. For the second edition in 2007 the family was united in a single team.
Cleggy then participated in several club races on the rental 2 strokes at Bira. Luckily for his rivals he was often travelling for business which enabled them to win in his absence. Otherwise Cleggy was always a serious contender for victory. In June 2009 he joined his first official race (National 3) which he finished in third position behind Cameron (with Dad Graham two other members of the family) and Tashina. Sadly it was to be his last race as a few days later he was diagnosed with the cruel disease that took him away on Sunday. We had the privilege to know him for four years. Only four years but the quality of the relationship was such that the memory of these four years will stay with us forever.
